Why Do You Blog: Day Thirty One

Last day of the blogging challenge and I'm quite pleased with how well I managed to stick to it until the last few days when my laptop broke!!! I hope you enjoyed reading the posts and getting to know me a bit more. It was definitely a commitment but I enjoyed the challenge and might do another one in the future.

I blog to express my thoughts and opinions in a way that I find most comforting and interesting, and as a way of escaping anything I don't like going on in my life as it's something I enjoy and that helps take my mind off of things. It also is a way for me to develop, improve and broaden my writing experience and writing style in order to help in the future and to better myself. Since starting my blog, I've really enjoyed being part of the blogging world both as a writer and as a reader as I read blog posts far more frequently than I did before I started blogging, and it's been nice becoming more involved in it all through both comments and posts.

What do you like about the blogging world?

What's In Your Make Up Bag: Day Thirty

I made a blog post not long ago about my overnight make up bag and everyday routine and since then it hasn't really changed. Whatever I take in my bag overnight is what I use on a daily basis but I don't have a daily make up bag as I keep it all in a drawer instead. If you read my 'Overnight Make Up Bag and Every Day Routine' then you probably won't want to read on as I'm just going to repost that so the details will all be the same as it hasn't changed so I can't see much point in me starting again.

Step One: Skin
I start by cleansing, toning and moisturising my face using the simple products displayed above. First of all I apply about a 5p coin size splodge of cleansing lotion onto a cotton pad which I then rub into my skin. I then pour a small amount of toner onto a new cotton pad and do the same thing, removing any excess dirt and bacteria. To finish my skin care step, I put about a 5p size splodge of moisturiser onto my fingers and rub this into my face and neck. I often do these steps before getting dressed, allowing a few minutes for the products to sink in before I apply my make up.

Step Two: Face
After allowing time for my moisturiser to sink in, I start by applying Collection's Illuminating Touch Concealer with my Ecotools Kabuki Concealer Brush to any spots or blemishes and under my eyes. I then use either my Collection Secrets BB Cream or Collection Ultimate Fix 3 in 1 Concealer, Foundation and Powder or I skip this step if my skin is having a particularly good day or I am in a particularly lazy mood. Next, I use my Ecotools Kabuki Contour Brush to apply my Natural Collection powder as although it's designed for contouring, it does a good job at applying powder. I'll then apply my FCUK Bronzer using the brush in the set, followed by my MUA Blusher in the shade Candyfloss, using the Ecotools Kabuki Bronze Brush, which I also use to blend the Blusher and Bronzer together. To finish off my face section, I spray on the Collection Fix Me Up Make Up Fixer to keep my makeup in place for longer.

Step Three: Eyes
My last stage is my eyes. For this, I start by applying a combination of the shades Camel and Sand from the W7 In The Buff Eye Palette both on my eyelids and along my bottom lash line. After this, I'll sometimes add the Rimmel Scandal Eyes Eyeshadow Stick in the shade 011 Bluffing, to add another tone to my eyes, which I'll blend in to the other shades. If I choose to wear liner (which I usually do if I have time), I use the Mastergraphic Felt Liner to line my eyes. I then use Little Mix by Collection, Jade's Defining Black Mascara on both my top lashes and my lower lashes. To finish, I use the Collection Work The Colour Eyebrow Palette to fill in my eyebrows, using a combination of the two lighter colours.

Let me know in the comments if you have any recommendations of products to use on a daily basis, similar products you enjoy or your opinion on any of the products mentioned in the post.

What Are You Looking Forward To: Day Twenty Eight

There are several things I am looking forward to, both on a short term and long term scale so here are a few of them:
  1. Seeing one of my best friends/ long distance sisters who is coming to stay with me for a bit during Summer. I am excited to spend some time together as we don't get to see each other very often and when we are together, we always have a great time. I am also looking forward to seeing some of my other friend's from Germany who are coming over at the same time and I always love when they visit or when we visit them.
  2. Going to The Vamps and Union J concert with one of my other best friends. They are two of my favourite artists and when I've seen them in the past they have been amazing, so the two together is beyond exciting for me.
  3. Seeing 5SOS live, having listened to their music for ages, I am excited to see/hear them perform live which I think will be insane. Their music seems like it would be perfect for a lively, exciting concert. It is also at the end of the week of my last exam so it will be a nice way of letting my hair down and treating myself after all the hard work.
  4. Going on holiday with my family and spending some quality time together.
  5. I am looking forward to leaving college and doing something I really want to do, whether that's a uni course or taking a gap year to do something I really love. I'm excited to have a fresh start with new people, of course there are lots of people I will miss but by the same token, there are several people that I'm looking forward to moving on from as I'm a bit fed up of those people making me feel pants about myself and for constantly putting me in a bad mood, even if they are 'friends', I feel like leaving college will be my chance to move on from them, put them behind me and start new friendships no matter how difficult or sad it may be after years of friendship.
  6. I am excited to finish my EPQ which is an Extended Project Qualification that I am doing alongside my other A Levels. I'm excited to see how it will turn out after all of the hard work I have and will put in to it. It's exciting knowing that I have chosen a topic that interests me and therefore can produce something I want to do on something I really like, which will hopefully allow my passion an enjoyment to come across.
  7. My joint 18th and 50th party which will allow me to spend time with the people I love, in an environment that will have taken lots of planning to make it into something I will enjoy.

Post Your Favourite Recipe: Day Twenty Seven

I have a lot of recipes that I like, including healthy and unhealthy, savoury and sweet but this recipe is one I have been loving recently as it's so easy yet delicious. The recipe originally came from a children's cookbook that I've had for years, but I decided to put my own spin on it, and it seemed to work really well.

Chocolate Chip and Banana Cookies

Ingredients for approximately 12 cookies:

  • 125g (4oz) Unsalted Butter
  • 90g (3oz) Soft Light Brown Sugar
  • 90g (3oz) Caster Sugar
  • 200g (7oz) Plain Flour
  • 2-3 Drops of Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Banana
  • 1 Pinch of Salt
  • 1/2 tsp of Baking Powder
  • 150g of Milk Chocolate Chips (or whichever kind you prefer)
  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius/350 degrees Fahrenheit/Gas mark 4.
  2. Cream the butter and both types of sugar together in a large bowl until the mixture turns creamy.
  3. Mash the banana and add it and the vanilla extract to the sugar and butter. Mix the ingredients until they are fully mixed in.
  4. Sieve the flour, baking powder and salt into the bowl and mix in all the ingredients.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  6. Spoon 5-6 heaped desert spoonfuls of the cookie dough onto your baking tray, leaving plenty of space between each mound so they can spread as they cook.
  7. Bake the cookies for 14 minutes.
  8. Take the trays out of the oven and leave the cookies to set for 2-3 minutes.
  9. When the cookies have set, transfer them to a cooling rack.
  10. Bon appetite!

Update...

As I mentioned in my 'Day Twenty Six' post, my laptop broke the other day and it's currently being repaired which has made it difficult for me to write and upload blog posts. I've managed to borrow my mum's laptop so I'm going to be uploading days twenty seven to twenty nine today and will get the last few days written ready for their appropriate day.

Also, my March Favourites post will be heading your way soon but may be a little bit later than normal depending on how long my laptop is going to take to repair and the ease of borrowing someone else's computer.

Sorry for the inconvenience, I'll hopefully be back to a more structured upload schedule soon.

An Old Photo Of You: Day Twenty Six

So this picture isn't exactly old but it's the oldest photo I have on my phone. It was taken at the Union J concert in December 2013 where I went with one of my friends. I planned to upload a photo from when I was very young but yesterday my laptop broke and it's currently being repaired. I don't know how long it's going to take but it meant I don't have access to the old photos on my computer. It also means it may make it difficult for me to get my blog posts written and uploaded on time but I will do my best and hopefully my laptop will be fixed soon.

Also, sorry this didn't upload, it failed to publish yesterday and I've only just looked and realised but reuploaded it as soon as I realised.

Your Favourite Childhood Book: Day Twenty Four

I think my favourite book from childhood might be any of the Fairy books by Daisy Meadows. I used to spend hours reading the books and loved swapping with friends so that we could read and discuss as many as possible. I also used to enjoy drawing the fairies from the front cover, which I often did when I went to my friend's house. Looking back, these stories were awfully repetitive and had practically the same story every time with a different fairy and a slightly different twist. Even so, these books were a big part of my childhood and loved everything about them at the time.

I also loved 'We're going on a bear hunt' by Michael Rosen when I was bit younger, I can't even begin to think how many times I must have read it. Admittedly, it did used to frighten me but not quite as much as it did my brother. I also got the honour of meeting Michael Rosen in year five after we watched him perform some of his poems. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience and ended up getting two of my books signed which was incredible.

What are your favourite childhood books? Do you have any that create particularly strong childhood memories?

Treating Your Body

Sorry I didn't upload a main post this weekend, I had writer's block and I just couldn't think of anything to write.
Anyway, I went to the gym earlier today and when I got home, I really felt like I needed a deep cleanse and nourishment to treat my body, so I thought I'd share with you some of the products I used and the routine I took to treat my body.

Step One: First I went to the gym to get my adrenalin running and to keep fit and healthy. I also find that the exercise can lower my stress levels and improve my mood. After exercising, although my body may ache, it definitely makes me feel proud of myself.
Step Two: Using the simple eye make up remover, I removed my eye shadow, mascara and eyebrow make up, as I wear a bit of make up when I go to the gym (I know this isn't great for your skin but I don't feel very confident anyway so without makeup, I'd have even less), and I went straight from college more or less so I didn't have time to remove any extra. I then washed my face with water to remove some of the excess make up.
Step Three: I then removed any left over make up from my face using some cleansing lotion and a cotton pad.
Step Four: Next, I used toner and a cotton pad to remove the remaining make up and any bacteria.
Step Five: I then got into the shower and started by rinsing my face with the Clinique liquid facial soap to remove anything left on my skin.
Step Six: I washed my hair, starting with the Aussie Frizz Miracle Shampoo which smells amazing and works really nicely with my hair which is quite dry and can be prone to frizz because I have very curly hair. I then used the Aussie Mega Instant Conditioner which does more or less the same as the shampoo and is very useful for detangling my hair.
Step Seven: Recently my hair has been particularly dry and I'm not sure why so I decided to use the Schwarzkopf Hair Therapy Repair Rescue which I haven't used before but my mum let me borrow. I applied it to my hair after washing it and ringing it out a bit, I then left this on for almost ten minutes. I can't comment on how helpful it is for my hair yet as there hasn't been much time between when I applied it and writing this post but it did feel very soft and like it was doing a lot of good for my hair during the ten minutes I left it to sink in to my hair.
Step Eight: Whilst the hair mask was sinking into my hair, I washed the rest of my body with the Rituals Diwali Delight which as some of you may know, I love; it smells incredible and feels amazing on my skin.
Step Nine: After getting out the shower, I applied some of the Simple light moisturiser to my face and neck.
Step Ten: I then dried myself and applied the Soap and Glory The Daily Smooth Body Butter onto my arms. As you can see this has nearly run out but I will most likely be repurchasing this product as it smells so good and leaves my skin feeling great.
Step Eleven: I also use the Ted Baker Butterfly Body Lotion on my legs which also smells stunning and leaves my skin feeling lovely. Another product I would love to repurchase as it's very nearly run out.
Step Twelve: After towel drying my hair, I applied some of the Frizz Ease Original Serum, focusing it on the ends of my hair. After applying this, I put my hair into two plaits ready for my to sleep in it, as this keeps my hair tamed and reshapes the curls slightly for the morning.
Step Thirteen: To finish my 'Treating My Body' routine, I put some Sally Hanson Natural Nail Growth Revitalizer onto my nails because my nails are in terrible condition at the moment and really need looking after, so hopefully by using this regularly, it will make a significant difference.

Thanks for reading this post, I hope you enjoyed it. If anyone has any recommendations of products or techniques to treat your body, let me know in the comments below.

Your Dream Job: Day Twenty Three

My absolute dream job would be to own my own magazine or online magazine company aimed at teenage girls with interviews, beauty, fashion, horoscopes (all the typical features) and a lot of important features and articles on body confidence, mental health, stress and all the other important issues that I think are important for young girls to read about in order to feel less alone, more confident in themselves and more aware of important issues.

I would also love to write and publish a book whether that be a one off or as a career.

What's your dream job?

The Best Thing To Happen This Year: Day Twenty Two

The best thing to happen this year so far would have to be passing my driving theory test because it meant I'm one step closer to being able to drive on my own which I'm really excited to do, simply for practicality and ease. Although, I'm not looking forward to all the extra costs like petrol and car care.

If anyone's thinking about learning to drive or is learning to drive and wants some good resources for theory revision, I would recommend the 'Driving Test Success' apps: Hazard Perception, Hazard Perception Volume One, Hazard Perception Volume Two and Theory Test 2015. I found them very helpful and they really helped me prepare for practically all possible questions as I practiced all 900 and something that are on the app. The hazard perception apps helped me practice reacting to hazards quickly and show many of the different hazards that could come up.

A Difficult Time In Your Life: Day Twenty

It all started when I lost my Grandad in 2012, obviously I was upset by it but I coped quite well considering. During this time, I barely cried which upset me more because then I felt like I wasn't as affected as I should have been and that people kind of overlooked my feelings towards the matter. On the day of the funeral, I remember looking around the room and people were crying and upset by the whole thing (understandably) and whilst I was upset about the loss of my Grandad, I got upset most when I looked around the room and felt so alone. It appeared as though everybody had someone to comfort them and I didn't, I didn't know what to do, how to react, who to speak to, so I spent a lot of time with my younger cousins (between the ages of about 1 and 5), as a way of taking my mind away from it and to give me something to do.

After the death and the funeral, I coped and dealt with it okay but a couple of months of later I felt very down and lethargic a lot of the time. I was stressed, low and miserable. At this point, I tried a couple of depression tests online which I knew weren't always that accurate but pretty much every time I did them, they suggested depression within the moderate region, occasionally stretching to severe or lowering to minor on particularly good or bad days. I kept a lot of this to myself until one day when I decided to just print off the results and write down my past ones that I'd kept a note of and I handed this to my mum. After discussing it with her briefly, we decided to speak to the school at which point I started speaking to a councilor type of person at the school for bereavement support and general health support. This helped a bit and towards the start of 2014, I stopped seeing her as I no longer felt I needed to.

Around June last year, I started to feel down and not myself more frequently until it was most days. I felt lost and out of my depth with groups of people that I've always been around and got on with. These feelings only magnified when I started college, I felt so stressed, miserable and worried all the time and overall I was rarely happy. This was when I decided to go back to my previous councilor/helper (as I stayed on at my school) and started seeing her again. This was helpful but I was still having a lot of low days although they did decrease in number a bit.

Last month, I finally decided to go and speak to a doctor and see why I was feeling like I was and what I could do about it. She told me that there were symptoms of depression but we predominantly discussed anxiety although she didn't want to diagnose either of these at that point as she felt that labeling the problem doesn't usually help. Personally I found this partial diagnosis helpful because it helped me to know that what I was feeling was something real and that it could be dealt with.

Since then, things have been a bit better although I think this is because a lot of big things have happened recently that I have to be strong for, positive about and get through. I find that because of these reasons, I can deal with big issues, it's the little things that affect me most.

Thank you for reading this, I'm sorry it rambled on a bit; it was difficult but kind of a relief to put this into words as it's not something I've really discussed before, particularly the anxiety part as only my parents and one other person knew about this before today... It's not a very easy thing to discuss as much though I'd like to be able to, in order to help work towards a less stigmatized and judged future in terms of mental health.

What Do You Collect: Day Nineteen

There's not much to say about this one, I collect snow globes and keyrings and I don't really have a reason for that, I just like them and like to collect them as a memory of different places or situations.

I'm so sorry this one was late, I wrote it and then got distracted and completely forgot to upload it. It's not even worth the wait really, it's very short and to the point with no little anecdotes.

The Meaning Behind Your Blog Name: Day Eighteen

This isn't a very interesting one I'm afraid; I spent absolutely ages trying to come up with a blog name that I liked and put off starting a blog for so long because I 'didn't have time to start it' and 'couldn't think of a name', eventually I realised I was just putting it off and gave myself a deadline to decide on a name and decided on 'Lovestephx' because I planned to end all my blog posts with 'Love Steph x' in order to tie the two together, give me a definite end to each blog post and I thought it seemed quite a cute idea. It's definitely not the most imaginative name!

What Is Your Most Proud Moment: Day Seventeen

I think my proudest moment is when I completed a traithlon in September 2013 which I did with my mum and uncle in honour/memory of my grandad and to raise money for water aid which was the charity my grandad always used to donate to. We decided to do it in memory of him as the triathlon was almost a year to the day after we lost him the September before. This was a proud moment because it obviously wasn't an easy thing to do and took a lot of training. I also found the end a huge relief and was glad it was all over but was very proud of what I managed to achieve.

What Is At The Top Of Your Bucket List: Day Sixteen

I have had a bucket list for a couple of years now and I just cross things off and things as I go along. I've created a page on my blog for my Bucket List so if you want to see that you can find it along the top of my blog.

There are a lot of things on that list that I would really like to do as you probably guessed just from the fact they are on that list, anyway after going through it, I think my top thing is to go to Rio. I'd particularly like to go and witness a carnival there as I think that would be an amazing experience and so interesting to see the culture through a carnival. Previously my top thing would have been swimming with the dolphins but I was lucky enough to cross that off the list last year.

What's at the top of your bucket list?

I had a really lovely day and enjoyed spending some quality time with the family for mother's day, it was very relaxed and fun and it was nice to hear all the stories about my cousins trip to Florida which they got back from a couple of days ago. I love to spend time with my family, just socialising, catching up and having an overall lovely time, it's amazing to have such a close, supportive family. I love them all a lot and want to thank them for such a brilliant day.

I hope you had a great day and spent it with some of the people you love and doing what you love.

Primark Haul and Lookbook

I've never been the biggest Primark fan (although I loved it yesterday and will more than likely go again in the near future) and I haven't been since the summer of 2012 but after seeing Zoe's Primark haul the other day and knowing I needed/wanted to update my wardrobe for Spring, Summer and my holiday, I decided to take a trip to Primark. I love watching and reading other people's hauls and they're are quite fun to do so I thought I'd share some of my purchases with you.

I've done this post a bit differently to my previous hauls as I have also decided to do a Lookbook and show you most of the clothes that way. However, I've not shown you the swimwear as I'm not comfortable featuring that in the post. I'd also like to apologise for the issue with some of the text cutting off, I'm not great at editing videos and I tried to get it all on but it wouldn't work. I'm also a rather unphotogenic person so some of the pictures are okay but many didn't turn out that great. Despite both of these things, I hope you enjoy seeing some of the things I bought. Let me know in the comments below, what you think of this style post and the overall lookbook video concept.

video
The things I bought that weren't in the video were:
Plain strappy tops in white, black and navy £1.80 each
Workout shorts £4
Floral print bikini top £6 and bottoms £4
Printed stripped bikini top £4 and bottoms £3
Black and white over bikini/swimming costume £8
Bobbles £1
Black, sparkly sunglasses £3

I hope you enjoyed this post and have a great Mother's Day tomorrow.

If You Won The Lottery: Day Fourteen

It depends how much I won but, If I won the lottery, first of all I would put it in the bank to earn interest, I would pay off any bills and mortgages of my close family and extended family, I would donate a large amount to a number of different charities and make sure the money does something important and substantial, I would go on a shopping trip, I'd buy a macbook, I'd put on a private concert with some of my favourite artists and would sell tickets for charity and I'd save money for university, a house and maybe my own magazine company one day as that would be a dream come true, and/or pay for a book I write (if I ever finish it!!!) to get published as that is another dream of mine.

What's Your Earliest Memory: Day Thirteen

My mind has gone blank at the moment and I can't think of my really early memories that I usually remember, so the earliest one I can remember at the moment is when I was about 4/5 and, I went to a cottage with my family- aunties, uncles, cousins and grandparents included, and one day we'd been into the village, when we got home my brother and youngest cousin who's about 3 and a half years older than me were given a harmonica. For some reason, (I don't remember what- maybe I'd misbehaved that day or something) I wasn't given one which obviously made me cross and upset, I then remember sitting under the dining room table and refusing to come out. Eventually I too was given a red harmonica which made me very happy.

Another early memory that I'm not sure whether this was before or after the harmonica incident as I don't remember how old I was is, when I went to a different cottage with my family again and there was a nice walk with stepping stones and mini waterfalls right near the house. The house/cottage was next to a farm so the cockerels woke us up quite early. While we stayed there, we also looked after a white and black collie dog called Meghan and we took her on a couple of walks. One evening my dad took her and somehow managed to lose her which then resulted in us all having to search for her. We did find her, but we've never let him forget it.

What's Inside Your Fridge: Day Twelve

I'm really sorry that this has gone up a day late, I was out and busy all day and evening yesterday so I just didn't get chance to do it. Anyway, here is the contents of my fridge, not particularly interesting...

Personally I don't think this day is a very interesting challenge so it's very short, but at least there's another day's challenge going up today as well that will hopefully be more interesting.

The Shopaholic Tag

1. Would you consider yourself a shopaholic?
Definitely! I love to shop which means I never have enough money for something I need because as soon as I have money I go shopping. Even if I don't have any/much money, I will still buy things and just end up missing out on something else or I'll borrow it.
2. How would you classify your style?
I see my style as quite girly and cute but, I wasn't really sure how I'd class it so I did a couple of 'style quizzes', which suggested that my style is Romantic, 'Whimsical ('playful and appears to be 'thrown-together' but is actually a thoughtful combination of colours and patterns.') and Classic. I would agree with this to an extent but not completely, I just like to wear things that suit my body shape and myself, look pretty and nice and are comfortable.
3. What store can you not leave without buying at least one thing?
Probably Superdrug or maybe Quiz because I love the things they have in that store and often, the things I like are in the sale, (I don't really buy the things that aren't in the sale) so they are of a decent price.
4. Where do you find the best deals?
I think New Look because they have some great clothes of good quality and you can usually find a wide range of products in the sale.
5. What designer are you willing to splurge for?
At the moment I wouldn't splurge for a designer because I couldn't afford to and, there isn't really anything that I've seen that has stopped me in my tracks and made me love it and really want it.
6. Do you have a “go to” shopping outfit?
I don't really have one, although I often wear leggings and a dress because I think it looks nice, it's comfortable and it's fairly easy to keep taking off and putting on when you try on clothes.
7. What is your guilty pleasure?
Probably dresses, whether it's casual or formal, I just love dresses, particularly skater ones as I think they suit my body shape and look really nice and cute.
8. What is one staple clothing piece you cannot live without?
I don't really have one but if I were to pick, I'd go for my high-waisted skinny jeans because I think they are great for everyday wear but they could also be dressed up for an event or evening outing, with a nice top and a pair of heels or more formal shoes.
9. What is a trend you hope never goes out of style?
Skater skirts and dresses because as I've said previously, they suit my body shape well and there is always a large variety of them which look really pretty and depending on the design can look edgy or formal as well.
10. What trend did you love that passed away too quickly?
I really don't know my answer for this one, my mind has just gone black of all passed trends that I liked, that aren't suitable now.
11. Who is your fashion icon?
I don't really have a fashion icon, there are just lots of different outfits I like that different people wear. Some of which I would never be brave enough to try, some I know wouldn't suit my body shape and others that I love and would love for myself. I've tried to pick some of the people I often am inspired by and who's style I really like, and they are:
Aria Montgomery (Pretty Little Liars Character), Hanna Marin (PLL Character), Spencer Hastings' (PLL Character) more recent styles, Carrie Bradshaw (The Carrie Diaries Character), Silver (90210 Character), Annie Wilson (90210 Character), Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Louise Pentland (Sprinkleofglitter), Zoe Sugg (Zoella), Niomi Smart, Shay Mitchell, Troian Bellisario, Lucy Hale, Sasha Pieterse, Jessica Lowndes.
I was tagged by lolarainxx, who has a great blog that I would definitely recommend checking out. I tag: meganjmccracken, detoutebeautecorner, daisyperson and waresisters.

What's Your Best Physical Feature: Day Ten

There aren't many physical features I like about myself but, one thing I do like that I think I like best is my eyes. I like the colour which I think looks nice, especially when I wear blue as it makes them stand out. Also, although I have very pale lashes, I quite like them because they are fairly long.

Another feature I like is my nails because although they are in bad condition at the moment (I don't know why, they're just a bit weak and break a lot), I like the length and size because they are easy to paint and usually in a fairly decent shape.

I liked this day's challenge because I feel like we often focus on the negatives and things we don't like about ourselves, and I'm just as guilty at doing this as many other people, but all it does is make us feel worse about ourselves. I think we should focus more on the positives and the features we do like and emphasizing them more in order to improve our self esteem, confidence and overall happiness. (I need to take my own advice here!) Therefore, I challenge you to think of a couple of things you like about yourself and either write in the comments below or just keep it to yourself and hopefully feel a bit more positive and confident.

What Are Your Worst Habits: Day Nine

  • I always wash my feet just before getting into bed otherwise my felt feel horrible against my bed sheets- I don't know why but it does. This isn't that bad of a habit, it's just a bit annoying and a bit of an inconvenience sometimes.
  • I pick or bite nail varnish off once it starts to chip which just makes my nails look worse and in a poorer condition.
  • I don't go to bed when I'm tired (or even why I do, by the time I've got ready for bed I'm far less tired) so then I struggle to get to sleep, which I sometimes struggle with anyway but even more so if I go to bed late and passed the tired stage.
  • I used to set my alarm almost an hour before the time I needed to get up as it would take me that long to wake up, now I've managed to get it down to about 20 minutes before I need to get up. By setting an alarm earlier it wakes me up more gradually but it can actually be worse for making you tired because the last part of your sleep is disturbed, so really it would be better for me if I had the last twenty minutes properly sleeping and I just got up straight away after the first alarm but this never happens!
  • I also spend my money more or less as soon as I get it, or buy things I don't really need which means when there is something I really need or really want, I can't afford it.
I'm sure there are probably some other bad habits I have, but these are the ones I can think of right now.

What are your worst habits?

What's In Your Handbag: Day Eight

I don't really have one handbag that I keep things in and use all the time, I tend to use my college bag most of the time and usually if I'm going somewhere where I need a handbag, I move a lot of the stuff out of my college bag and put it into a new handbag so each time I use it, I just have the essentials for wherever I'm going. Today, I went ice skating for a friend's birthday so I took a fairly small bag which could easily fit into a locker. This was the bag I took and the things I took inside it today...

As I was wearing ballet pump style shoes, I didn't have any socks on and since I needed some for skating, I put a simple pair in my bag along with a fluffy pair which was recommended. I also had my mango card and provisional license in the Radley card holder, and my purse which you obviously need when going out. I never go anywhere without chewing gum and my favourite flavour is 'cool breeze' by extra. I also took my cien peach sorbet lip gloss and my maybelline master graphic liner in case I needed to top up my make up through out the day. Last but not least, I took my glasses.

Note: I did also take my phone but that was in my pocket for most of the day, as well as an umbrella which didn't fit in this bag so I just carried it.

Your Pet Hates: Day Seven

My biggest pet hates are slow walkers and loud eaters. Considering I have long legs, I find it quite difficult to walk slowly and I as a result I get very irritated by people walking slowly either with me or in front of me (unless the person has a good reason). I also hate when people stop right in front of me or in a place that causes a blockage or inconvenience for other people. Regarding loud eaters, I don't mind too much when people are eating something that has to be eaten loud like crisps, it's when people eat those things extra loudly or when people eat things that should be eaten quite quietly, loudly or they slap their lips as they eat. Urghh!!!

More recently, I have also developed a pet hate for the word 'bae' I can't stand it. I hate hearing people use it and I hate seeing it on social media sites where I see it most days. In most cases, even if I really like a photo, a post or a tweet, I won't 'like', 'retweet' or 'reblog' it if it includes the word 'bae'. I just think it's such a hideous word. :(

Another pet hate is when people pronounce quinoa as (quin-oh-ah) which my mum and brother do frequently because they know I hate it.

People sitting on my bed and warming it up is another pet hate of mine because I love having my bed cold when I get in and if someone has been sat on it earlier, it's not as cold. (I have a double bed, so I do sit on one side, but I don't move over until I'm actually in bed).

What are your pet hates?

Your Five Senses Right Now: Day Six

Taste: Mint (because I just brushed my teeth.)

See: I can see my room, particularly my bed and cushions, my bedroom door, my wardrobe which is opposite and myself as my wardrobe doors have mirrors. To the left slightly I can also see my desk and all the things on and under it, my bag for college, my bedside table and my dressing room.

Smell: I can't pick out a smell because I'm used to all the smells in my room and house and there is nothing extra like cooking, pets or perfume etc. to change that smell.

Feel: The warmth and comfort from my bed sheets as I am currently in bed on my laptop (wild Friday night!!!) I can also feel the weight and heat of my laptop on my lap.

Hear: Clocks ticking, a bit of wind, the sound of the keys as I type on the keyboard and the faint sound of traffic in the distance.

Desert Island Tag

I was inspired to this tag by the waresisters, who uploaded a video on this a few months ago. The first part of the tag involves choosing one thing in a list of categories to take with you to an unknown desert island, the second part of the tag is your response to the situation of your plane crashing on the way to your island.

Part One: What to take to the desert island...

Movie: The Proposal. There are so many films that I love but, one film I've seen hundreds of times and still adore is The Proposal, it has Sandra Bullock (one of my top three favourite actresses) and Ryan Reynolds (one of my top three favourite actors), it makes me laugh every single time and I love the witty, sarcastic humour through out the film.

Album: This is a really difficult one but I think I'm going to have to go with Battleground by The Wanted because I love all of the songs on it but it also has the song 'I'll be your strength on' which I love the lyrics to and the song has helped me a lot (along with other songs and other things) through difficult times.

Person: Excluding family because I can't choose one family member to take so I'm going to have to go for George Shelley because I feel like he would be good at surviving on this desert island and making it into a fun adventure.

Food: I agree with Laura in that I'd want to take Watermelon as it is my favourite food but I'm hoping the Island has watermelon. In which case, I would take vegetarian lasagne, it's my favourite meal and it contains protein, vegetables, carbohydrates and fat so I would have pretty much all the food groups covered.

Drink: Ice Tea.

Make Up: Mascara- it's my essential make up item because my eye lashes are very light so without it, my eyes don't look very bright or awake. If I'm just lazying around the house and not wearing make up, I often will put on mascara (and sometimes concealer if needed), I don't feel dressed without it.

Extra Thing: A notebook (and pen)

Part Two: What to do when the plane crashes...

If the plane started to crash I would wait until we got a little bit closer to the ground (but not too close) and then I would jump out with a dingy onto the water if we were over water  and then I would paddle to shore or, I would use the dingy to break my fall if we were over land.

If anyone does this tag, let me know in the comments and I'll check it out, alternatively leave your answer to one of the sections in the comments below for me to read.

What Are You Afraid Of?: Day Four

My biggest 'phobia' is fire (Arsonphobia) and more recently burns (which kind of link together), I think my phobia of fire started from a ride at Disneyland Paris called Armageddon when I was about six. The ride had no warning and was horrible; it jolted a lot, smoke came in from the sides and fire came up from the center of the rocket and we didn't know if it was supposed to happen or if there was a problem, it was really scary not only for me and the other young children but also for the parents that didn't know what was happening. Since then I've been afraid of fire. I have got a lot better than I used to be and I can be near a controlled fire like a campfire (within reason, I'm still very cautious and a bit worried) but I am still very much afraid of fire.

One of my biggest fears in a deeper sense is not living. By that, I don't mean death (which is also a scary concept but there's not a lot we can do about it), I mean existing rather than living. I worry that I'll look back on my life and regret things and wish I'd have done things differently. I want to be able to experience so many different things and make something of my life so that even if I died at a young age, I wouldn't be unhappy with the way I lived my life. The thought of not doing that terrifies me.

Some of my other fears and phobias are:
  • Small/Confined spaces
  • Crowds
  • Wasps
  • Spiders
  • Heights
  • Lifts
  • Clowns
  • Needles (this one is not as big of a fear; I hate them and they do scare me a little bit but not too much)
  • Thunder and Lightning
  • Failure (This doesn't stop me from trying things, I just worry excessively about failing and the thought of failing at something bothers me a lot)
  • Cancer
  • Feet
  • Snakes
What are your fears or phobias?

Your Favourite Quote: Day Three

I used to have lots of quotes up on my wall, which I constantly added to as I discovered new ones but once I redesigned my room, I moved all of the quotes into a book. As you can probably guess from that, I am a huge fan of quotes; there are so many I love. This made today's challenge difficult as I couldn't pick just one so, I've managed to narrow it down to two.

1. 'You only live once but if you do it right, once is enough.' - Mae West

I love this quote because there are so many things that remind us how short life is, but it is the longest thing we'll ever experience and it's important that we get that right, not from society's point of view but from our own. We need to make our life right for us.

2. 'Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.' - Dr Suess

I love how this quote makes the ending of something you like focus on the positive side of it rather than the negative. There are so many moments and memories that we experience for a short period of time and would like to continue experiencing long after they're over and we sometimes have to remind ourselves to enjoy those moments when they happen.

What are your favourite quotes?

Introduction and Recent Photo: Day One

This photo was from a few weeks ago, the day after I had my fringe put in at the hairdressers. My hair is naturally curly but I do occasionally straighten in and always do when I go to the hairdressers so that it can be cut more easily and evenly.

Introduction: I was inspired to do a Blog Challenge after seeing the lovely lolarainxx start one which you can find here. I thought it would be fun to try and would give me something to post each day through March. (I will be posting other blog posts as well, it just means more throughout this month!)

If anyone wants to join in the blog challenge, let me know in the comments and I'll be sure to check it out.
